GoFundMe Seeks to Help Family of 16-Year-Old Olean Boy Killed in Crash

A GoFundMe page has been created for Camrin E. Poe, a 16-year-old Olean boy who was killed in a motor vehicle accident over the weekend. The fundraiser was launched to help Poe’s family cover funeral and service expenses.

The page was organized by family friend Erika, who described Poe’s mother, Corey (Meyer) Mazzone, as “a very loving mother of her kids, Camrin and Carlee.” Erika wrote, “Today, Corey received the devastating news that her 16-year-old son, Camrin, was hit by a car and tragically has passed away. We are raising funds for his funeral and services since he passed suddenly and tragically, and she has not prepared for this … All of your support is appreciated.”

New York State Police said Poe was struck by a 2018 Dodge Durango early Sunday while in the eastbound lane of Interstate 86 in Allegany. Troopers initially responded to a report of a pedestrian attempting to wave down passing vehicles before receiving a call about the collision. Poe was pronounced dead at the scene.

Poe, of North Union Street, was born on July 30, 2009, in Bradford, Pa., the son of Corey L. Meyer and Jesse A. Poe. He attended Portville Central School until 2023, then transferred to Olean High School. At the time of his death, he was studying welding at Elm Street Academy through Belmont BOCES.

He enjoyed sports, video games, and making projects in the STEM Lab. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, ability to make others laugh, and what family described as his reputation as a “ladies’ man.”

Poe is survived by his mother, Corey L. (Joe King) Mazzone of Olean; his father, Jesse A. Poe of Bradford; his sisters, Carlee G. Meyer of Olean and Maddie Romero of Bradford; his brothers, Caleb and Jude Poe of Bradford; his maternal grandmother, Reba Williams of Allegany; his paternal grandmother, Cindy Poe of Bradford; two cats, Rascal and Jasper; as well as several uncles, cousins, and extended family members. He was predeceased by several grandparents and his best friend and caregiver, Jodie L. “Gigi” Timblin.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 E. State St., Olean, with a funeral service to follow. Rev. Tyrone Hall will officiate. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be posted at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 4301 Wilson Blvd., Suite 300, Arlington, VA 22203, or through its website.
