Cattaraugus County residents can now take advantage of free home safety visits through the Healthy Neighborhoods Program, a partnership with the Cattaraugus County Health Department designed to help reduce environmental hazards and create safer living conditions for all households.
The program provides no-cost assessments for a wide range of potential hazards, including fire safety risks, lead exposure, indoor air quality issues, asthma triggers, fall hazards, injuries, and more.
During a home visit, staff members can offer educational materials and install essential safety items such as smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, child-safety latches, and fall-protection devices.
They also offer testing for lead-based paint and radon, two serious but often overlooked threats found in many homes across the region.
The Healthy Neighborhoods Program is available to all homeowners and renters in Cattaraugus County, with no income requirements or eligibility restrictions.
Whether you live in an older home, have young children, or simply want peace of mind, the program provides valuable support at no cost.
Residents can schedule a visit by calling 716.373.8050.
