A long-vacant building in the Village of Cattaraugus is about to get a second chance — and so is the community. After more than a year of searching Western New York for the right spot, Daich Coatings, a Hamilton, Ontario-based company known for its high-end paints and decorative stone coatings, has chosen Cattaraugus as the home for its first U.S. operations.
The company has put the former SetterStix plant on South Main Street under contract and plans to start operations by the end of this year, bringing 25 new jobs and new energy to a space that has sat empty since 2021.
This is “a huge win … on many levels.”

For local residents, the announcement is about more than jobs and a new business. It’s a sign of renewal and growth in a community that has been working hard to attract opportunity. Daich’s decision reflects the confidence outside companies are beginning to place in the strength and potential of Cattaraugus County.
Even more exciting, this deal is already sparking new interest from across the border. Two Toronto-based businesses have reached out to explore the possibility of opening their first U.S. operations here — a ripple effect that could bring even more opportunities to the region.
Daich Coatings products are already found in major retailers like Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Canadian Tire, but soon, the Village of Cattaraugus will have the honor of being the place where the company plants its first U.S. roots.
What once was an empty building will soon be a symbol of fresh opportunity — a reminder that good things are happening here in Cattaraugus.
